Liquid Measurement Technician

Position Summary

The Liquid Technician will be directly responsible for the proving, calibration, and/or construction and maintenance of mass and volumetric meters used for the hydrocarbon measurement industry. Reporting to the Senior Liquid Measurement Coordinator, Liquid Technicians will perform all duties and responsibilities in support and alignment with Coastal Flow Measurement Companies Vision and Values.

Supervision Received & Exercised

This position reports directly to the Senior Liquid Measurement Coordinator. This position does not exercise supervisory authority over any other position.

Primary Responsibilities:

Maintenance:

  • General maintenance on provers.
  • Electrical, Control, and Analog trouble shooting of pressure, temperature, and Micro Motion Densitometer Systems.
  • Calibrate pressure and temperature Transmitters.

Measurement:

  • Calibrate various types of flow meters common to the petrochemical industry.
  • Provide a safe working Environment while involved in the calibration process.
  • Use of PYCit and PROVEit Flow-Cal applications used in Portable Proving.
  • Responsible for the proving of mass and volumetric meters that include Micro Motion, PD meters, Turbine meters.
  • Calibration of Coriolis Flow Meters using the Master Meter Calibration Method
  • Responsible for Scheduling and the Administration process of day to day business

Required Skills & Abilities:

  • High School Diploma required.
  • Experience in Oil field, Pipeline, PetroChem, Specialty Chem, Service or Parts Technician.
  • Outstanding customer service orientation with experience working directly with customers.
  • Ability and desire to readily embrace and learn new technologies.
  • Must be highly self-motivated and dependable with a strong work ethic.
  • Ability to work independently on projects and with customers with little to no supervision.
  • Ability to effectively resolve issues or problems consistent with standards, practices, policies, procedures, regulations or government law.

Desired Skills & Abilities:

  • Associate’s Degree in Technical area.
  • Experience with Flow-Cal field applications (PYCit, PROVEit).
  • Experience working in liquid measurement or hydrocarbon measurement.
  • Experience and/or knowledge of provers including Flow Management Devices (FMD’s), Calibron Syncrotrak and Daniels/Brooks small volume provers.
  • Experience and/or knowledge of Flow Meters including Micro Motion Coriolis, Brodie, Turbine, PD, Oval Gear meters.
  • Experience and/or knowledge of Pycnometers, scales, and weights, proving connections, oilfield unions, and other measurement equipment and industry essentials.
  • Knowledge of Hydrocarbon Measurement Industry and Oil & Gas Industry.

Other Requirements:

  • Due to the nature of this position, employees are regularly required to drive a company vehicle and must meet DOT and DISA regulations. Clean driving record and background check is required. Class A Commercial Driver’s License.
  • Due to the nature of this position, employees must meet mandated safety regulations. Employees must pass a pre-employment drug screen and physical with satisfactory results.
  • Occasional nights and/or weekends or long hours may be required.

 Physical Requirements:

While  performing  the  duties  of  this  job,  the  employee  is  regularly  required  to  use  hands  and  fingers  to  hold  or feel, reach with hands and arms, walk, talk, smell and hear. The employee is frequently required to stand, sit, climb, balance, stoop, crouch and crawl. Specific vision abilities include close, distance, color, and peripheral vision, and depth perception. The employee regularly lifts and/or moves up to 50 pounds and occasionally lifts and/or moves up to 100 pounds. An employee in this job is frequently exposed to outside weather conditions, often exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, and has a risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment may be loud.
